The photographer David Willen (*1968 in Bern) runs his own studio in Zurich. His core competence and his declared passion are object, landscape and architectural photography. It is in these areas that David has developed the precise, prosaic imagery and independent photographic style that has earned him international acclaim. He has realised important national and international campaigns and is regularly contracted by magazines (see client list). His independent projects have been on display in art and photography institutions and galleries in Switzerland and internationally. Since 2003, all of his works have been created in close collaboration with Tania Willen.

From 2013 to 2019, he was a Guest Lecturer for Arts and Media at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK). He continues to give lectures on the creation of visual concepts at the Ad School, founded by the Art Director’s Club Switzerland, where David also acts as a member.

In his spare time, David draws inspiration from contemporary art exhibitions and design events and clears his mind by cooking – which is his other great passion – and roaming the woods with his dog Piri to hunt for truffles.

The picture editor Tania Willen (*1967 in Bern) is of Finnish and Swiss origin. A trained graphic designer, she worked as an Art Director in various agencies and co-created many ad campaigns. Following many years of experience in this area, she specialised in picture editing and processing, founding her own company silmä (which means “eye” in Finnish) in 2006. Today, she is one of the foremost experts in this field and is responsible for adding the finishing touches to numerous photographic projects and campaigns. Since 2003, she has lent her comprehensive design expertise, her discerning eye for detail, and her perfectionism to the collaboration with the photographer David Willen.

From 2013 to 2019, she was a Guest Lecturer for Arts and Media at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK).

In her time off from creating the perfect picture on the screen, Tania likes to cultivate her city roof top garden and spends as much time as possible fishing in the Finnish lake district.
